This course is offered to classroom teams participating in Year 3 of the Preschool SDI cohort.
Aligned with the SDI Framework, this professional development supports teachers and providers in diagnosing, designing, and delivering effective specially designed instruction through the use of evidence-based tools and processes, aiming to improve the outcomes of preschool learners in inclusive settings.
Embedded learning is a foundation of this course so that students have multiple opportunities to engage across the daily setting and routines. However, students may also need individualized instruction in specific skills and intensified instruction to progress toward grade-level standards. Participants will examine fidelity tools, professional learning materials, supports for coaching practices, and action planning to promote high-quality, specially designed instruction using DEC-recommended practices. The Year 3 course engages participants in a data-based approach to measure fidelity and create a plan to implement the Preschool SDI practices fully. Participants will use the Preschool SDI Practice Profiles and Fidelity Checklists as a part of this process. After completing this course, teams can repeat this process each year until they have reached full implementation.
