This relicensure course is designed for all educators and will provide participants with strategies and skills that may be used when working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Participants will gain a better understanding of student characteristics and need. Participants will become familiar with the environmental structure, social stories, emotional regulation, etc to implement in a classroom when working with students on the autism spectrum.
This course provides additional certification for paraeducators. Participants are required to attend 22.5 hours face to face hours, via Zoom, and complete all work to earn credit. The additional 22.5 hours of work are independent and/or in collaboration with other participants.
Paraeducator Licensing
This applies to only those seeking the additional certification. Participants can also use the three credits earned through this course to renew a paraeducator certificate. Paraeducator participants planning to add the Area of Concentration 24.4(8) Autism Spectrum Disorders to a license must have earned the Paraeducator Generalist Certificate through the BoEE.
